Russell David Johnson (born November 10, 1924, in Ashley, Pennsylvania), is an American television and film actor.

Johnson joined a Army Air Corps in World War II and served as a gunner in bombers. He experienced the super distinguished record & was extremely decorated for his service.

He flew 44 combat missions as a crewman inside B-24 Liberator bombers, and won seven decorations, including the Purple Heart for injuries sustained when his plane was shot down all over a Philippines. Whilst a war ended, he joined a Army Reserves, and utilized a GI Bill to fund his acting studies.

He became the close friend of Audie Murphy and later appeared by using him within one of his films. Johnson's Hollywood career began in 1952, and his early roles were primarily within westerns and science fiction. He as well appeared within the Ma and Pa Kettle vehicle. He is better known to the public when "The Professor" on the CBS television sitcom ''Gilligan's Island'', which was in first-run from 1964 to 1967 but has been shown in reruns continuously since that time.

Johnson was typecast therein kinda role, however he has volitionally participated altogether reunion film, cartoons, and more cases related to the program. Whilst recognized when "The Professor" publicly, he is gracious & friendly, & doesn't object to existence addressed when "Professor".

Fallowing ''Gilligan's Island he appeared within many more picture show & television program, perchance virtually all notably a miniseries Vanished, according to the novel by Fletcher Knebel (1971), uncredited in the Robert Redford spy thriller, Three Days of the Condor (1975), and on the NBC soap opera Santa Barbara.

His boy David ran a AIDS program for Los Angeles, California until his death of Helps within 1994. Johnboy has been the good-whale volunteer for Helps locate fundraising since his son was diagnosed & in the years since his demise.

Johnson has written his memoirs of the show, the book titled in this button on Gilligan's Islet.''

He presently sleep in Bainbridge Island, Washington.
